CUISINE
Trentino- AltoAdige is known principally for its characteristic food products, such as SPECK, CHEESE, APPLES, WINE AND GRAPPA which make the territory unique.
The cuisine is simple but rich in typical dishes based on few simple ingredients furnished by nature:
FOLKLORE
Tourism is of great importance to the local economy; in summer excursions in the mountains and water sports/swimming by the lakes; in winter, ski sports. In the valleys of Trentino, throughout the year, festivals rooted in popular traditions are organised, conserved over the centuries they are revived by typical costumes, dances and rituals.
This makes Trentino celebrations enchanting and unique: The principal aim is to REVIVE TRADITIONS ACCOMPANIED BY TYPICAL LOCAL DISHES: among which are: CARNIVAL FESTIVALS with processions and traditional theme d carnival floats in every village, ERGONASTRONOMIC WALKS, COURTYARD PARTIES- food and music in the courtyards in the villages’ old houses-, FIREWORK DISPLAYS, TRADITIONAL VILLAGE FESTIVALS LINKED TO TYPICAL PRODUCTS LIKE THE EGG FESTIVAL, THE APPLE FESTIVAL CLEBRATING THE HARVEST, THE COW FESTIVAL CELEBRATING THE RETURN OF THE COWS FORM THE MOUNTAIN MEADOWS, RELIGIOUS PROCESSIONS EVOKING PILGRAMAGES AND HEALINGS, REVIVALS OF TRADITIONAL CRAFTWORK OF TIMES PAST.
Nativity scenes are common along with the traditional Christmas Markets over the Christmas period.
